Rick Brown - Bass
Rick Brown - Bass Player
Fragrick "Rick" Brown was born and raised in Henderson, North Carolina. Early musical influences included his mother, Johnnie Mae, who sang Gospel, and his uncle Archie who played Blues guitar. Rick got his first six-string, (a Sears and Roebuck Silvertone he shared with his older brother) at age nine. By age twelve he had his own bass guitar, and began emulating the styles of the best Funk bassists of the day: Bootsy Collins, Robert "Kool" Bell, Verdine White, and Louis Johnson among many others.

A self-taught musician, Rick played with a number of cover bands in high school and during his eight year tour in the U.S. Army. Rick moved to Dallas, Texas in 1987 and had resigned to playing only for personal pleasure until approached by Victor Pegram and Phillip Holmes about starting a group. The result is TRUEBONE.
